Paddy Power - Review
Paddy Power's venture into the world of Financial Markets is twofold, fixed odds betting, and spread betting. With the spread betting, they've developed a dedicated interface, but with their fixed odds they've incorporated them into the standard betting categories. Obviously, a dedicated interface is preferable, but if you are new to the financial markets, fixed odds is the preferable route to take, as spread betting can get really hairy if you are not extremely careful and disciplined with your betting.
Their fixed odds option is definitely the sensible option for those new to the game, and although you won't win a packet initially, at least you can learn how the markets move, without losing your shirt - and potentially more. And whilst their fixed odds software is not as good as the spread betting software, its certainly adequate for those wishing to develop their betting strategy and besides, they also have regular promotions which are a good way of seeing if their software, and other factors meet your needs.
Bet types on offer are basic 'range bets' which means that you can develop a betting strategy that will go through the rigours of testing, without being tempted to change your bet type if you get hit by a few losses in a row. This is a problem for many market beginners - they don't learn from their mistakes, and as soon as they hit a few losses, they move on instead of figuring out what they were doing wrong. A guaranteed recipe for sustained disaster!
Whilst your betting history and interactive market charts are missing form the interface, this is not irregular on fixed odds platforms, in fact it is almost standard. If you do need charts, their are plenty of free ones out there on the net to cover practically all markets, and also their are numerous financial analysis news feeds for the most up to date events to help you make up your mind before putting down any serious money on a financial bet.
What does save Paddy Power Financials is the range of markets on offer; several indices, major currencies, and commodities including Brent Futures, Gold Futures and WTI Crude. And although their software does need some development, they are one of the few brokers who will let you place a bet for as little as 10p, and for that they get a vote from us in enabling those without a wad the size of a swimming pool to place low bets and get to know the fixed odds financials game. And, unlike a few other brokers, there is no charge for transactions.
